"Preclan" is a functional cosmetic ingredient that is uniquely separated and purified from the bio-gel (extracellular polysaccharides: EPS) secreted by microalgae using proprietary technology. It is known to consist of galactose (67.1%), mannose (22.5%), arabinose (4.7%), rhamnose (4.0%), and xylose (1.7%). Many of these galactose residues are present in the furanose form, and it is predicted from the NMR spectrum that they are β-linked (1.5-β-D-galactofuranose).
